The Capital Pride Singers (CPS) was formed in January 1995 by a group of people who responded to a call in The Community newsletter. CPS was organized as a program of the Capital District Gay and Lesbian Community Council. From that small group of 19, CPS has grown to over 50 members. It is one of only a few mixed (male and female) gay choruses in the country. Recently, CPS has become its own not for profit organization.

CPS Mission Statement Capital Pride Singer's mission is to promote an understanding of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered ("GLBT") experience through music; to provide a positive and visible portrait of the GLBT community. Capital Pride Singers is dedicated to building community both within and outside the GLBT experience.

CPS is a member of the Gay and Lesbian Association of choruses (GALA Choruses), an international organization. The membership allows us connections to other gay and lesbian choruses around the world, as well as opportunities to participate in many choral and organizational workshops and weekends throughout the year.
